Upcoming Stormwater Projects

Designs are currently being finalized for additional conveyance systems and catch basins on Sherman, Hamilton, Sussex, Pondfield and Homesdale.

Please see attached statement clarifying stormwater issues with Mount Vernon.

Designs for an additional stormwater conveyance pipe and catch basins down Elm Rock Road to Masterton Road to Pondfield Road are also being finalized.  The zoom meeting held on Monday, November 20, 2023 included a discussion on these improvements.

Scout Field Outfall Improvements:

The Village is working with Westchester County to make improvements to the outfalls of the Midland Valley Drainage Basin.  The designs to date include some improvements to the channel including bank stabilization along the brook where the stormwater leads to the Bronx River.

Other Work Along the Bronx River:

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) has retained Consulting Firm SLR International to study the Bronx River Corridor including the section of the Bronx River running along Parkway Road and Paxton Avenue in an effort to recommend improvements to reduce flooding there.  To date the Firm has completed field work and started an hydraulic analysis with the aim of of identifying hydraulic constrictions that may be contributing to the flooding.  A draft report is underway and will be shared with the DEC early in 2024.
